Order weight error when exporting from Shopify to Zasilkovna

If you encountered the error "An order's weight information is mandatory. You need to add weight information to every product variant you want to ship.", a product variant in the order is likely missing its weight.

Quick fix for this order:

  1. Open the parcel in your Packeta account under Unfinished Parcels.

  2. Add the missing weight manually, then save and submit the parcel.

  3. Print the label from the Posted Parcels section.

Then make sure to also fix the weight in Shopify so the issue doesn't repeat on future orders — follow the steps below.

Check if you added weight to every product variant

Zasilkovna / Packeta requires sending order weight with every parcel imported to their system via either API or CSV.

To ensure this, the Zasilkovna app sums all the product variant weights in order and sends the information to the Zasilkovna admin.

The most common issue is that the weight was added only to one variant per product, thinking that the weight stands for all the variants within one product, but Shopify needs to have weight for every variant.

How to edit variant weight in Shopify

Set the variants' weight in the product detail

You can edit variant weight in the product detail like on the screenshots below:

After you opened settings for a specific variant, you need to add the weight for each and every one of them.

Set the variants' weight in the bulk editor

  1. Go to the Products section in Shopify

  2. Mark products that you want to edit

  3. Click on Bulk edit

  4. Click on Columns and select Weight

  5. Fill in weights for specific variants

  6. Don't forget to click on Save after you finish editing
