How do I automatically send an invoice to my customer when they place an order?

Sending invoices automatically involves two separate steps: creating the invoice and sending it by email.

Here's what you need to set up:

1. Make sure invoices are being created automatically

First, open the app and connect it to the correct Fakturoid account. Once connected, make sure automatic invoice creation is enabled in the app settings.

Next, check that your VAT settings are correctly configured — both in the app and in your Shopify store. Incorrect VAT setup is one of the most common reasons invoices are created with wrong amounts or missing tax details. See How to Set VAT Settings for a step-by-step guide.

The app creates invoices based on specific rules — for example, only after payment, or for every new order. See Invoice Creation Rules to understand when invoices are created and how to configure this to fit your workflow.

💡 Invoices not being created? There are several reasons why invoice creation may fail — from VAT misconfigurations to address formatting issues. For a full list of common errors and how to resolve them, see Invoice Creation Errors: Causes and Solutions.

2. Enable automatic invoice emails

Once invoices are being created, you can have the app automatically send the customer an email with the invoice. This is not enabled by default and needs to be turned on separately. See How to Send an Invoice Email to the Customer Automatically.

Alternatively, or in addition, you can insert a direct link to the invoice into Shopify's own order confirmation email. See How to Add the Invoice Link to the Shopify Order Confirmation Email.
