Follow these simple steps to get your first free gift offer live and shown to your customers. The text below includes all details and field descriptions. You can also watch a super‑quick video tutorial showing the setup and the app in action.
Step 1: Add Gift Box to your theme
Add the app to your theme by enabling it in the theme editor.
Enable Gift Box app embed (toggle it on).
Click Save (top‑right).
Step 2: Create your gift
Click the Create gift button.
Choose an offer type:
Free product: Give a product from your catalog for free when customers spend a set amount or buy a specific product.
Free product choice: Same as Free Product, but customers choose one gift from multiple products.
Free shipping: Offer free shipping from $X.
Note: Also set up the free shipping rate in Shopify > Settings > Shipping and delivery. Enter the Minimum order price and set the rate price to 0.
Custom free gift (extra service): Offer a free custom product/service when customers spend more than $X or buy a specific product.
Click Select to set up the chosen offer.
Don’t see these options? Go to the Dashboard and click Create gift at the top‑right.
Step 3: Set the gift details
Gift Name
Internal reference only (not visible to customers). Keep the default or rename.
Gift Product
Select the product/variant to give away. It must be in stock; otherwise, the gift won’t appear.
Conditions
Choose one:
Spend X: Set a cart subtotal threshold. When the subtotal reaches X, the gift auto-adds.
Buy Product X: Pick a specific product. Adding it to the cart triggers the gift.
Spend X in Collection Y: Set a subtotal threshold for a chosen collection. When spend in that collection reaches X, the gift auto-adds.
Buy any product from Collection X: Buying at least one item from the selected collection triggers the gift.
Customize Texts
Tick this option to customize or localize Gift Box texts.
Step 4: Save and activate the gift
Click Save and Activate in the top bar. Your free gift offer is now live.
Step 5: Test the free gift offer on the store
Visit your storefront and wait a few seconds for the small gift icon to load.
Open the Gift Box pop‑up and confirm it looks and behaves as expected based on the number of free gifts.
