Line item upsells

Show offers directly under each product in the slide cart, matched to what the customer is buying.

Written by Marcela Plevacova

Line item upsells show offers directly under a specific product in the slide cart. Each product gets its own relevant offer, so a customer buying a coffee grinder and running shoes can see coffee beans under one and socks under the other.

Before you start

Line item upsells only work in the Candy Rack slide cart, so it must be active. See Enable slide cart with upsells.

How it works

  • The offer appears directly under the product it’s linked to.

  • When the customer adds it, it’s grouped under that product instead of appearing as a standalone item.

  • This grouping stays the same in the cart, at checkout, in the order confirmation email, on the order status page and in your Shopify admin, so it’s always clear which product the add-on belongs to.

  • If the customer removes the main product, its add-ons are removed too.

  • Line item upsells work alongside your other slide cart offers.

Create a line item upsell

  1. In Candy Rack, create a new offer and choose Cart › Line item as the placement.

  2. Choose the trigger: the products or collections that should show the offer.

  3. Choose what to offer: specific products, a collection or AI recommendations.

  4. Save and activate the offer.

Customize how it looks

Go to Slide cart › Offers › Line item to change how the offers appear. You can choose between two layouts:

  • Checkbox: customers tick a box to add the offer.

  • Button: customers click a button to add the offer.

Ideas to try

  • Warranties and protection plans: attach them to the product they cover.

  • Accessories and refills: a case for a phone, filters for a coffee machine.

  • Complementary products: matching items for each product in the cart.

  • Gift wrapping: add it to a specific item, not to the whole order.

Good to know

  • Each line item placement has its own analytics.

  • Offers pick up some text styles from your theme, so they can look a bit different in your store than in the app preview. Always check them in a real cart.
