Add a free gift to your slide cart

Automatically add a free product to the cart once customers reach a minimum purchase amount.

Free gift offers reward customers with a free product once their cart reaches a set amount. The gift is added to the Candy Rack slide cart automatically, with no extra clicks for the customer, and it’s a simple way to raise your average order value.

Before you start

Free gift offers only work in the Candy Rack slide cart, so it must be active. If it isn’t, the offer will show the Action needed status until you turn the slide cart on. See Enable slide cart with upsells.

How it works

  • When the cart total reaches your minimum amount, the gift is added automatically.

  • If the cart drops below the minimum, the gift is removed automatically.

  • Each gift is limited to a quantity of 1.

  • The price is set to 0 by a discount that Candy Rack creates for you in Shopify.

Create a free gift offer

  1. In Candy Rack, create a new offer and choose Cart › Free gift as the placement.

  2. Under Gift products, add one or more products (If you add more than one gift product, the customer gets all of them) and choose which variants to include. You can also add a badge to each product.

  3. Set the Minimum purchase amount. This is the cart total after discounts.

  4. Enter a Discount title. Customers see it in the cart, at checkout and in their order details.

  5. Check the Markets settings. You can set a different minimum purchase amount for each market.

  6. Save and activate the offer.

Markets and currencies

You can set a different minimum purchase amount for each market. By default:

  • Markets that use your store currency use the minimum purchase amount you set above.

  • In other markets, the amount is converted automatically with Shopify’s exchange rates.

Customize how the gift looks

Go to Slide cart › Offers › Free gift to change how gifts appear in the cart:

  • Combine free gift offers: when checked, customers receive gifts from every offer they qualify for. When unchecked, they receive only the gift from the offer with the highest threshold.

  • Appearance: show or hide the product link, image, remove button, discount code, variant selector, price and original (crossed-out) price.

  • Styling: background color, image width, and font sizes for the badge, product name and price.
