Setpilot installs like any other Shopify app, but because it analyses your full order and product history, it asks for a specific set of read permissions. This article walks through the install and explains what each permission is used for.
Installing the app
Open the Shopify App Store listing for Setpilot.
Click Install. Shopify will redirect you to your store admin.
Review the requested permissions (see the next section) and click Install app.
You will land on the Setpilot welcome screen, where you can choose your billing plan and start your free trial.
What permissions Setpilot asks for
Setpilot is read-only on Shopify data — it never modifies orders, products, or customers. The scopes are:
Scope | What it is used for |
read_orders | Order, line item, shipping, refund, and transaction data for the P&L. |
read_products | Product catalogue, variants, and Shopify unit costs. |
read_customers | New vs returning customer metrics. |
read_shipping | Shipping rates and zones so shipping costs can be matched correctly. |
read_payment_customizations, read_payment_terms | Payment methods and fees matched to transactions. |
Embedded vs standalone mode
Setpilot runs in two modes:
Embedded — inside your Shopify admin, as an iframe. This is the default for merchants.
Standalone — at a direct URL with email and password login. Useful for team members who do not have Shopify admin access and for accessing your data from a browser outside Shopify.
Both modes access the same data and the same dashboard.
Uninstalling
You can uninstall Setpilot anytime from your Shopify admin under Settings → Apps and sales channels → Setpilot → Uninstall. Your historical data is retained for 30 days in case you reinstall.
Next step
Once installed, continue to Your first setup: initial import and configuration.
