What is the Gift Box app good for?

Gift Box allows you to reward customers with a free gift(s) when they complete an order. You control which free gift they get and what the rules to get it are.

The whole concept is based on an incentive to motivate your customers to finish the order and increase its value. The Gift Box pop-up is visible the whole time on your store, so your customers can see it at any time.


How to set up a free gift?

Can customers use discount codes together with the free gift?

Yes! Just make sure you have the Allow discounts in checkout with the gifts method enabled in Gift Box Settings.


The free gift isn’t added to the order. What should I do?

Let us know using the in-app chat. This may be caused by an AJAX (mini, slide-in, drawer) cart that is not recognized by our app. We can usually fix it very quickly.

This may be caused by a conflict with another third-party app or a script in your theme. We will investigate what script is the root cause and consult with you. Often, the scripts are just leftovers from an app that is no longer installed and can be safely removed (it will also speed up your store a bit).

Also, free gifts can be missing in orders due to compatibility issues with your theme, which we are always happy to help with.


Can I hide the Gift Box pop-up from my store?

Yes, the Gift Box pop-up can be hidden using custom CSS. Simply add this code in the app Settings » Custom Appearance section:

#giftbox-root { display: none; }

You can also display/hide it on various pages of your store if your theme has unique HTML classes. We can definitely help you with that.


Can I change the texts and/or colors in the pop-up?

Yes, you can. Simply go to Settings in the top menu and adjust the color and texts per your needs. The other texts can be modified in each of the gift settings by clicking on the Customize Texts option.


Which free gifts can I offer?

There are basically two types of free gifts you can offer - Free Product or Free Service (free shipping, gift packaging, etc.).

  • A free product is an existing product from your Shopify product catalog.

  • Free service is any custom service you can think of. You can either pick from one of our pre-defined templates or create a custom one.


How to delete or hide the existing free gift?

To pause the free gift (i.e. make it inactive and invisible to the customers), go to the app dashboard and move the toggle of the specific gift from green to grey.

To completely delete the free gift, go to the app dashboard and click on the specific tile (line) in the Your Gift Box section. You should get into Gift Setup, and at the bottom of the page, there is a red button called Delete Gift. Click on it and confirm.


How many free gifts can I offer?

You can offer multiple free gifts. The Gift Box is designed in a fully responsive way, so even 10 different free gifts will still look great. However, we recommend offering 2 to 3 gifts as a maximum.


Can I control the way how the Gift Box opens in my store?

Yes, you can. Simply go to Settings in the top menu and scroll down to Auto-Open Settings section. You can control when the Gift Box should open automatically. The options are:

  • Open on every first visit to your store

  • Open every time when a customer gets to Cart

  • Open every time when a customer becomes eligible for a free gift

By default, all three options are pre-checked.


Can I offer a discount as a free gift?

You can offer a discount in the form of custom service for the next order. At the moment, you can’t offer a discount on the order which is in progress.


Can customers reject the free gift?

Yes, customers can simply remove free gifts from their carts.

Also, if you use the “Free Product Choice” gift offer, the customer will need to select from multiple gifts. If he/she does not select any, no gift will be added to the order.


Who is providing the pre-defined services (Gift Packaging, Extended Warranty) in the app?

These are just examples. We are not providing the services themselves, we are just offering a tool to offer them to your customers. You are solely responsible for any services you will be offering through our app on your store.


What does the Performance Summary in the Dashboard mean?

The Performance Summary tracks the performance of your free gifts. Views means how many times your customers saw any offer. Items means how many of them you have successfully sold and Sales for how much. All the data is tracked only for orders which contained at least one of the free gifts.
