Candy Rack offers two different loading methods: Fast and Standard. These settings control whether the app prioritizes its own visibility or your store's initial loading speed.
Fast mode - async (default)
Best for: Maximum visibility and higher conversion.
In this mode, Candy Rack loads as soon as possible, often appearing at the same time as your store's content.
Why use it: It ensures your upsell offers are visible immediately when a customer starts browsing. This is the default setting because it generally leads to higher engagement and sales.
Standard mode - defer
Best for: Prioritizing store performance and speed scores.
In this mode, Candy Rack waits until your entire page has finished loading before it runs.
Why use it: This ensures the app does not slow down the initial display of your store. If you are focused on optimizing your store's PageSpeed score (Core Web Vitals) or if you want to ensure your main content always loads first, this is the safe choice.
How to change the loading mode
Open your Shopify Admin and go to Online Store > Themes.
Click Edit theme next to your current theme.
On the left sidebar, click the App embeds icon (the third icon down).
Locate Candy Rack in the list.
Find the Loading mode setting and select either Fast or Standard.
Click Save.
